Summer Solstice (Sample Poem, Not necessarily representative of future published poems here)
On this my 72nd year’s
shortest night,
with so many little stars
to talk to,
I am not sure I can forgive
the longest day’s sun
for having been too big, too bright
and too busy to listen.
My birthday will dawn in 96 hours
for the 73rd time.
I have just finished
living this year’s most prolonged day,
the sun’s longest journey
across a wide empty sky.
I cannot live without
the myriad small faces
that shine in the restful darkness.
